It all started on another continent. Born and raised in the Netherlands, Robin met his wife Elizabeth in Munich in the early nineties, while traveling through Europe. Robin recalls with a smile, “It was love at first sight.” Happily married for the past 16 years, Robin and Elizabeth reside in Long Beach, California. In Robin’s spare time, he enjoys walking Eland (the couple’s recently adopted German Shepherd), bike riding, reading, gardening, and traveling.
“My first experience in home buying was for investment purposes: we purchased his residence then proceeded to move out and convert it to a rental property. We did that a couple of times that friends and relatives began to approach me for help with their own real estate transactions. Within a short time, my real estate career was born.”
“Since venturing into the real estate industry in 2005, I’ve been affiliated with Keller Williams Realty.”
Buying a home is one of the biggest investments in most people’s lives. Robin makes it a priority to give his clients what he would want if he were the home buyer or seller: attention, enthusiasm, and honesty. His emphasis is on communication between his client and himself. Robin recognizes each client’s need to know what is happening at all times throughout the transaction, and takes his role as the client’s “trusted, experienced real estate agent” very seriously. “As a result of this approach, I am receiving more and more referrals from happy clients. Over half of my clients come through referrals. Because the majority of my business (73%) is referred to me by people I’ve worked with in the past, I can focus ninety percent of my time on helping my clients, rather than a lot of marketing activities or door-knocking,” Robin explains.
“About two years ago I really started to pay attention to local business owners, and charities, and how I could make a difference in their lives. I now have a well attended business mixer, frequent referrals back and forth with people who understand that helping each other makes everyone more profitable. By focussing on the local community, my business connections have gained momentum. Two of my favorite volunteer based groups of people are the German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County (Eland is our 3rd GSD adopted through them), and the Jr. Roller Derby of Long Beach. One is about saving the lives of deserving German Shepherds and the Roller Derby lead by Ms. Mimi Masher is to help kids find a passion for roller skating. Since I was born in a bike loving country, I love the fact that Marko started his Marko’s Treats, the Icecream guy on a tricycle. He will show up at events or even your open house if you want.”
“I have to say, I love living in Long Beach, a community that is diverse and has lots of fun stuff to offer.”
